Twenty-one years after I handed a hungry boy a free meal, ninety-seven bikers rolled into my small Ohio town and stopped right outside my diner.

“Just looking,” he muttered.

“At the menu?”

Before he could answer, his stomach growled loudly enough for both of us to hear.

He immediately lowered his head.

I picked up a menu.

“I don’t have any money.”
