“Are you discussing me?”

“Never,” I said.

Miss Cole folded her arms. “Your mother was criticizing your technique.”

“I was admiring it!”

“Are you discussing me?”

Eliza nodded. “Sure.”

I pointed at the painting.

“It’s beautiful.”

“Thanks.”
