But one morning in late March, she had packed an extra sandwich for lunch and realized she wouldn’t have time to eat it. Her shift at the hospital cafeteria ran until 3:00. Then she had to be at the grocery store by 4:00 to stock shelves until midnight. The sandwich would just go bad in her locker.
