At My Son’s Celebration, My Sister-in-Law Took the Microphone

And he stayed away.

For years.

Not entirely, I found out later.

Just from us.

He sent birthday gifts through his sister the first two years until I told her to stop pretending they were from “a family friend.”

He mailed books once with no note.

Mason loved those books.

One had a torn cover and a stamp from a used bookstore in Dayton.
