Beloved Television Actor Passes Away at 95, Family Shares Emotional Tribute

Will & Grace became a cultural landmark, praised for its sharp writing and unforgettable characters. Among them was the bartender who appeared across multiple seasons, offering a friendly face in the show’s lively gathering spot. Between 2002 and 2020, he appeared in a dozen episodes, becoming a comforting presence fans recognized instantly. His final appearance in 2020 marked the close of a role that audiences continued to appreciate long after the show’s original run.

His career, however, stretched far beyond that sitcom. Spanning nearly four decades, he appeared in films and television shows of all kinds, often portraying ministers, authority figures, or dependable supporting characters. His film credits included The Naked Gun, Men in Black, Pleasantville, and Ghost World, while his television appearances ranged from Cheers and Murder, She Wrote to The Office, Weeds, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

According to his son, he often joked that he spent much of his career “marrying or burying people” on screen. It was a niche he embraced with humor and professionalism. Born in Piedmont, California, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War before pursuing education and eventually finding his way into acting.

Away from the cameras, he was a devoted father and grandfather who valued family above all else. Surrounded by loved ones at the end of his life, he left behind children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who remember his warmth. Though many of his roles were small, they carried heart—and through them, his familiar face will continue to live on.
