I came back home early with a suitcase full of expensive toys for my son, but I froze when I found him crawling on all four legs like an animal across the living room floor. My mother-in-law was rocking the mistress’s newborn baby in her arms, proudly laughing, “Now this is our real family’s pride.” My husband looked down at the floor, completely silent.
