I Found My Parents Freezing In The Dark And Realized The Golden Years Are A Myth

They matter. And they are not alone.

I walked inside. It was warm.

“Hey, son,” Dad said. “You’re home.”

“Yeah, Dad,” I said, hanging up my coat. “I’m home.”

We have to stop treating our parents like expired liabilities. We have to stop expecting the government to be a family.

The cavalry isn’t coming. The system is broken.

It’s just us.
