I was cleaning the pool this morning when I suddenly noticed this.

kinds of small objects, especially when water has been sitting undisturbed.

Then it moved.

The shape twisted slowly in the water, and suddenly what had looked like trash seemed very much alive.

It had a swollen-looking body and an unusually long, thin tail trailing behind it.

I had never seen anything quite like it.
