I was cleaning the pool this morning when I suddenly noticed this.

tube that originally looked terrifying was actually an elegant survival tool.

It allows the larva to remain in water while reaching the air it needs.

Seen from that perspective, the creature was not grotesque or threatening.

It was highly specialized.

Its body had developed exactly the features necessary for the environment in which it lived.
