Halfway through the second week, my phone buzzed.

Linda.

“Sweetheart, I think something happened with the bank. The transfer never arrived.”

I typed a single reply.

“Daniel explained that our finances are separate now. Please speak with him.”

Three little typing dots appeared.

Stopped.

Appeared again.

Then disappeared completely.
