“Those wind chimes. They’re too loud.”

I glanced toward them.

The breeze had completely stopped, and the chimes were not making any sound at all.

“They only ring when it’s windy,” I said carefully.

She sighed dramatically.

“I enjoy peace and quiet.”

I almost smiled at the irony.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

She gave me one curt nod before leaving.
