Nothing useful anyway.
I opened my truck door.
Then I remembered one last debt sitting between us for years.
I said, “By the way, I did finish.”
She frowned. “What?”
“My degree. Took me eleven years. Nights, weekends, online credits, winter terms. Purdue mailed it in 2019.”
I let that sit.
“You never asked.”
