Richard barked, “Don’t you dare.”

Tessa opened it.

Inside were copies. Bank wires, shipment logs, internal emails. And on top, a letter signed that morning.

I knew the words by heart. I’d typed them myself in a safe office six hours earlier, while a federal attorney watched me and slid tissues my way without comment.
