The Ballroom Doors Burst Open On Our Anniversary

As we walked toward the doors, I heard Richard shouting for counsel, for the commissioner, for somebody named Halpern who apparently played golf with a deputy secretary. I heard glass crunch under shoes. I heard one woman at table eight say, with deep offense, “This is why I hate anniversary speeches.”
