Linda lifted the envelope. “Did you write this?”
“Yes,” I said, voice small.
“Did you sign papers?” she demanded.
“Yes.”
Linda’s breath hitched.
For a second, I thought she might faint.
Then her eyes sharpened again, and she said the most terrifying thing she could have said.
“I should tell them.”
My blood ran cold.
“Linda—”
