There was nothing to see but our reflections and a strip of parking lot light.
After a while she said, “I kept thinking if I could just get to my shoes.”
I looked at her.
“What?”
“They took my shoes at night. Todd said I sleepwalked.” Her eyes stayed on the window. “I don’t sleepwalk.”
My hands went bloodless.
