“We can turn around.”
“No,” Evan said. “Get your food. Sit by the guards.”
“I’m not leaving you.”
“You’re not helping me by becoming a handle someone can grab.”
Nate looked wounded, then understood. He nodded and drifted toward the serving line with his head down. Evan took a tray, accepted breakfast, and chose the table in the middle of the room.
